Mona spent her last year in Maine with Pam Small. Attempts to breed her had been unsuccessful. After some additional saddle training, she was beginning to compete successfully in local halter and performance classes.

Mona was truly a clever and pretty mare, affectionate and playful, elegantly and aggressively gaited – all show and a dream to behold. She was bold and stout of heart on the rough trails. Now she is sheradu, gone forever.

It was an honor to share my life with her.  My friend, what do I say to you who dances beneath me and lifts my soul to heaven? To say thank you for the time we were graced with your presence is inadequate.  Her soul travels with the wind, her heart is the sun, and all of space is filled with her. – Pam Small, August 28, 2003

"I must not forget to thank the difficult horses, who made my life miserable, but who were better teachers than the well-behaved school horses who raised no problems. – Alois Podhajsky
